……. Receives Report of 2023 Fertiliser Sales and Distribution
In an effort to deepen public service efficiency Gombe State Government has inaugurated Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations Review Committee to undertake holistic overhaul of the existing documents.

Inaugurating the 23-member Committee on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, at the Government House, Secretary to Government of State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the review of the two documents became imperative as most of their provisions are outdated and not in tune with present day realities.

Njodi noted that for the Civil Service to effectively deliver on its mandate the rules and regulations guiding it must be updated stressing that they cannot continue to rely on and work with laws of the old Northern Nigeria or North Eastern Regional Government in the 21st Century Nigeria.
He therefore tasked the Committee Chairman and members to do justice to assignment considering their wealth of experience and standing while they served Local, State and Federal Government levels.
Njodi also explained that the Committee is to among other things holistically review the existing Public Civil Rules and Financial Regulations, identify challenges hampering the full application of and compliance with the provisions of the existing documents,recommend ways of improvement and submit report in the four weeks.
Responding, the Committee Chairman Hajiya Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, acknowledged the need for the reviews assured giving their best to contribute to the reform of Public Service which she said is bedrock of every good governance.
Similarly, Njodi has received report of the 2023 Fertiliser Sales and Distribution Committee.

Presenting the report the chairman Abdullahi Jalo Castic, appreciated Governor Yahaya, for according them the opportunity to serve the State.
Represented by Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Dr Ibrahim Yakubu Usman, said they received 160 trucks of fertiliser and sold at the cost of N19,000 naira which was later reduced to N15,000.
He added that 6,931 bags were subsequently distributed as part of palliative to the less privileged people of the state to cushion the devastating effect of fuel subsidy.
Receiving the report on behalf of the Governor, Njodi commended the Committee for doing a good job devoid of
political machinations.
Njodi said the wisdom behind government further subsidising the price from 19,000 to 15,000 naira per bag was to reduced the suffering of the people occasioned by petroleum subsidy removal by the Federal government.
He also explained that it is for the same reason that government decided to mopp up a substantial number of bags for free distribution as palliative.
Present at the twin ceremony are; the Head of civil service Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, Commissioners of Agric, Animal Husbandry & Cooperative Dr. Barnabas Malle and Higher Education Shetima Mohammed Gadam among other government functionaries.
