Gombe State, eight others get new INEC RECs
President Bola Tinubu, has appointed nine Independent National Electoral Commission Resident Electoral Commissioners.
The RECs include those in charge of Gombe, Ekiti, Edo, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Niger, Rivers and Zamfara.
Prior to the replacement Umar Ibrahim, was the Gombe REC, as he was recently reappointed to the state before the 2023 election.
Our correspondent reports that he also conducted the 2019 elections in Gombe.
This was contained in a statement signed by Tinubu’s media aide in charge of Media and Publicity Chief Ajuri Ngelale, urging the appointees to abide highest professional standard.
The statement partly read, “President Tinubu expects the new appointees to abide by the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties, in accordance with his determination to facilitate the establishment of a new and sustainable standard of transparent, fair, and conflict-free electoral conduct in Nigeria.”
