Gombe to move beyond civil servant state to industrial destination – Gov

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has inaugurated the seventh State Executive Council, following his reelection and swearing in of newly appointed Commissioners, with a decision to move beyond civil servant state to industrial destination.

Our correspondent reports that Yahaya’s second term makes the seventh since the return to democracy in 1999.
The current Council comprise 17 commissioners, the Deputy Governor Governor; Manassah Jatau, Secretary to Government of the State; Professor Ibrahim Njodi and the state’s Head of Civil Service; Ahmed Abdullahi.

The Council members are to assist the Yahaya in implementing policies and programmes, by working closely with the him ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt by the people of the state.

Briefing journalists shortly after the meeting, Njodi disclosed that the state governor congratulated the new and reappointed members of the council.
According to him, the Governor urged the new council members to prioritise the course of good governance and deliver on the mandate of his administration, adding that Yahaya also challenged them to support his government’s effort to transform the state.
He further explained that Yahaya reiterated his administration’s commitment to the development of the state through the provision of social amenities, infrastructure, and agricultural development as well as the new drive for industrialisation and development of commercial activities in the state.
While calling on members of the Council focus on teamwork with a view to upholding the campaign promises of the administration, SGS added that going forward in the next four years, “the administration is looking to prioritise investments and moving Gombe from a civil state to a commercial venture as well as diversification of the state’s economy. Our major focus now will be on how to place on a pedestrian of being an industrial state,” Njodi said.
