GSU confers 70-year-old inventor without formal education honorary doctorate degree
Gombe State University has conferred a honorary doctorate on Engineer Hadi Usman, an inventor who established a radio station, radio transmitter, Vespa engine helicopter, telephone (handset) in 1970s, in Gombe.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty stated this while speaking during the combined convocation ceremony at the University on Saturday in Gombe.
He said that Hadi Usman is self-made scientist and innovator who trained himself into innovating electronic and electrical appliance that addresses the challenges people facing in energy.

“Hadi Usman, recently invented cooking stoves that use water and generating plants that generate energy up to 7.5 kva without the use of any fuel and many other gadgets,” he said.
Our correspondent reports that Usman never attended any formal education, he only attended Tsangaya school were he memorised the Holy Qur’an at the age of 12.
Usman, in 1970 established a radio station, in Gombe and also used Vespa engine to manufacture helicopter.
