Police rescue two kidnap victims in Dukku
Gombe State Police command says no ransom was paid for the release of kidnapped victims in Dukku Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming this in a telephone interview with our correspondent Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the perpetrators were on the run, adding that the victims were released without hurt.
Recall that recently two persons in Shabewa community of Dukku were allegedly kidnapped by suspected criminals.
Our correspondent gathered that the criminals who initially wanted the husband abducted wife and his brother as the husband fled.
According to Abubakar, the rescue took combined efforts of operatives and vigilante group to crack the criminals and release their victims before they escaped.
He said, “The Commissioner of Police Oqua Etim, mobilised 34 PMF and 59 PMF for the raid.
“It was due to the pressure that the two victims were released, throughout the weekend that was what they did the details of the operation has not been released yet but reliably from the victims they said it was due to the pressure that they were released.”
Asked if the victims’ family paid ransom, Abubakar added, “they didn’t pay ransom. No ransom was paid for their release. The operation is still on and the kidnappers are yet to be arrested.”
