The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has disowned the two girls arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Adeniyi Ojo, Managing Director of Water View Hotel, GRA, Ilorin.

Ojo was allegedly murdered and found dead in the hotel room on Friday, September 29,2023 at about 10am.

The Police in Abuja on Wednesday paraded two girls; Joseph Joy Adama and Vandora Davies Oreoluwa who claimed to be Students of Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin.

The Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while parading the suspects in Abuja, said on October 6, 2023, Police operatives apprehended the two suspects, Adama and Favour, who are both students of Kwara State Polytechnic for their involvement in the robbery and murder of Mr. Adeniyi Ojo, the son of Chief Emmanuel Ojo, a prominent figure in Ilorin, Kwara State.

“Through meticulous investigative work, our officers were able to track and apprehend these suspects in Mowe Ibafo, Ogun State.

“In a tragic incident, the duo tied the deceased under the guise of having a sex rump and demanded money from him. But when he was not forthcoming, they resorted to drugging and suffocating him, leading to his untimely demise,” the Force PRO stated.

The Kwara state Polytechnic in a statement signed by it Public Relations Officer, Halima Garba on behalf of the Registrar on Thursday said that the two girls were not students of the Institution.

According to the statement, the two students named in the crime were former Students of the Institution whose admission had been withdrawn for low academic performance after their first year in the School.

The statement said, “The attention of the Polytechnic Authority has been drawn to a trending story and a video clip in which two ladies (Joseph Joy Adama and Vandora Davies Oreoluwa) named in the alleged murder of a hotelier in Ilorin were erroneously identified as students of the Kwara State Polytechnic.

“Our database checks showed that the two ladies had since been withdrawn from the school after their first years on account of poor academic performances. They have therefore ceased being students of our great institution.

“The Polytechnic Management states categorically that its students are good ambassadors of the institution, the state, and Nigeria at large, and will not be involved in shameful or criminal acts of any kind”, the statement added.

Recall that the Police in a statement by SP Okasanmi Ajayi said that one Adeniyi Ojo, the Managing Director of Water View Hotel was found dead in a room in his hotel.

According to the statement, a team of detectives who were joined by the State Commissioner of Police were dispatched to the scene.

“A suspected culpable homicide case was reported at ‘A’ Division Ilorin yesterday, September 28, 2023, at about 1000 hours by one Kehinde Olaseinde ‘m’ the supervisor of Water View Hotel, GRA Ilorin. A team of detectives dispatched to the scene were later joined by the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, psc (+).

“The deceased, one Adeniyi Ojo ‘m’ the managing director of the hotel was found lying motionless on the bed in one of the rooms in the hotel.

“The examination of the body shows no sign of physical violence. The body was taken to a hospital where he was confirmed dead, and was deposited at the general hospital mortuary, Surulere, Ilorin for an autopsy.

“Meanwhile a discreet investigation of the case has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police. Details of the investigation will be made public as soon as possible”, the statement said.

However, family sources told our correspondent that the late Ojo was found dead in the room with his hands and legs tied while his face was blind folded by the alleged murderers.
