Again, Government Day Secondary School Gandu has emerged first position at the state final level for the 2023 essay writing competition organised by All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools Gombe State chapter.
The event was attended by many schools across the 11 Local Government Areas of the state.

Periscope Nigeria reports that by virtue of the competition only the first position in their respective local governments are eligible to participate at the state final level which will give chance for the first position to attend the North-East zonal level of the competition.
After rigorous assessment and scoring of the participants booklet, Aliyu Hussaini representing GDSS Gandu, emerged first position followed by GDSS Ibinola from Billiri Local Government took second position.

Speaking with our correspondent Aliyu Hussaini thanked God for the victory gained in the state final essay competition held on Saturday, 18th December, 2023, describing the victory as ‘something expected’, due to the efforts of his school GDSS Gandu, “as well as the hard work of the school management and my teachers in guiding, directing and leading the students towards achieving success and development in life,” he added.
On his part, the school principal, Malam Othman Buba, described the victory as ‘victory for all’, adding that it confirms collective efforts of school management in discharging duties.

Buba ascribed the performance to good conduct of the students especially in obeying school rules and regulations, which rubbed off on the successes achieved.
The principal further expressed optimism that the state would be victorious at the zonal stage of the competition, adding that “by the grace of God the school will try it best to emerge first position in the North-East zonal competition scheduled for 4th December, 2023 in Maiduguri, Borno State.”
