Gombe Gov appeals to employers to accept Corps members’ postings

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has appealed to employers of labour in the state not to reject Corps members but to accept and accord them support.

Yahaya, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Inuwa Ibrahim, noted that Corps members remained integral part of the nation’s development, adding that they should be encouraged.

The governor made this disclosure on Tuesday, in Amada, Akko Local Government Area, venue of the temporary orientation camp in his address before declaring 2023 batch C stream I course closed.

Yahaya said, “I wish to express my appreciation to Corps employers in the various sectors in Gombe State, who render tremendous support to the Corps members. I appeal for your continuous cooperation, I also, implore you to accept and absorb these Corps Members into your fold and provide them with all the necessary guidance and counselling for a fruitful service year.”

While wishing the 2023 batch C stream I Corps members successful service in the state, Yahaya pledged to ensure their safety and well-being, assuring that the state is committed to supporting their individual growth.

“Dear compatriots, while wishing you a happy and rewarding service year in Gombe State, I pledge this administration’s support to the progress and development of the NYSC Scheme in the state.

“As you proceed to your Places of Primary Assignment, be rest assured that, the State would continually ensure your welfare, security and general well-being, receive priority attention. Be assured of an excellent hospitality by the government and the good people of our dear State.

“I urge you to be self disciplined and security conscious at all times and avoid all forms of negative vices. There is need for you to swiftly integrate into your host communities and endeavour to appreciate the cultures and traditions of the people, live peacefully with them and refrain from engaging in their local politics. Ensure to put in your best and contribute productively in whatever sector of the economy you might be posted to,” he added.

Speaking earlier, National Youth Service Corps State Coordinator Dawut Jidda, urged the Corps members to continuously abide by the oath of allegiance, adding that they should ensure to leave lasting legacies through Community Development Service.

Jidda added, “Be guided by the Oath of Allegiance you took in which you pledged to accept posting in good faith also, the provisions of the NYSC ACT and BYE LAWS as well as work place ethics, rules and regulations. You will be issued posting letters at the end of this ceremony to your Places of Primary Assignment across the eleven Local Government Areas of the State. I urge you to swiftly integrate into your host communities and adapt to their ways of life for peaceful coexistence, unity and socioeconomic development.

“I enjoin you to fully participate in the Community Development Service projects and partake in personal or group CDS projects that will meet the felt needs of your host communities. Also, indulge in the post – camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme for empowerment and self reliance.”
