Our correspondent reports that Gombe Chief Judge Justice Halima Mohammed, represented by Justice Haruna Kerend administered the oath of allegiance on the batch.

Yahaya, who was represented by Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Inuwa Ibrahim, said “Let me place on record that Gombe is peaceful, so be rest assured of your security, welfare and general well-being because it is the priority of government as indicated in the robust synergy between the state and security agencies.”

The governor continued saying “starting with the security apparatus deployed to the orientation camp. Once again, welcome to Gombe State for your service Gombe people are peaceful and receptive in nature. Hence, they will continually ensure that as youths you will have an enabling environment to maximise your potentials.”

While commending the Corps members for accepting to serve in the state, Yahaya noted that Gombe has the necessary potential to revolutionise their business ideas, adding “Gombe is blessed with rich cultural heritage and agricultural produce which also promotes basic business ideas.”

“My dear corps members I urge you to pay attention to this noble call to serve our great nation. Be reminded that the future of this country lies in your hand as leaders of tomorrow do not mortgage this unique opportunity to promote peaceful co-existence despite the cultural and ethnic background in order to promote the integrity of our country as one united and indivisible entity,” Yahaya added.

On his part, State Coordinator of NYSC Dawut Jidda, reechoed the governor’s assurances saying “Let me at this point reassure you that, the government and good people of Gombe State are very peaceful and hospitable. I also wish to assure you that, the state government has put in place necessary measures to ensure your safety, welfare and general well-being during the service year.”
