Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has commenced payment gratuity to 6000 beneficiaries and settlement of death benefits to deceased Civil Servants.

The governor disclosed this via his verified X platform saying it part of his administration’s determination to fulfill campaign promises.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the payment is the first tranche.

He wrote, “It was a pleasure today, as in fulfilment of one of our campaign promises, I flagged-off the first tranche of settlement of death benefits to deceased civil servants, and accrued gratuity of pensioners to about 6,000 beneficiaries whom exited from the Civil Service between 2016 and 2019.

“Our administration is greatly concerned with the plight of pensioners, especially those at the lower level, as they are the end recipients of the current economic hardship.”

He added, “Furthermore, to ensure sustained settlement of the backlog, the sum of 10 billion Naira has been proposed in the state’s 2024 budget.”
