……says owners of P&G, GSK didn’t see hope in Nigeria
The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded general election, Peter Obi, says the reason why multinationals are leaving Nigeria is because they are disillusioned with the country.
Obi noted that it’s about Nigeria and not entirely about who is in charge, stressing that efforts should be geared towards prioritising the entity.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA recall that GlaxoSmithKline has since shutdown its operations in Nigeria.
He made this disclosure on X space hosted on Sunday by Parallel Facts, while fielding questions.
Obi said, “GSK didn’t say we will not leave Nigeria because we are in South West and a Southwestern is now in charge. They left because they didn’t see hope in Nigeria, it was about Nigeria and not about who is there and who is not there. P&G’s facilities are in the South-West they didn’t even leave when Buhari was in charge.
“Nobody is saying that because this person is in charge lets stay. They are all going because they no longer see hope in your place that’s why they are going and we must all come together to reverse that if you stay on those who are dissolution would turn around to be difficult, but if we don’t stay on it will come to a time those who are pushing us will not that we can stay together to work together.”
He further called for tolerance, harping on unity, adding that the ruling class over time has used religion, ethnicity to divide and govern Nigeria.
“I am urging all of us, we have no other country except this one, let us stay together no matter the differences we have, no Matter our different backgrounds, ethnicity, religion those are things they are using to deceive us everywhere most religions stay together you have seen me say in campaigns the Catholic church in Dubai was built by Emir of Dubai, a Muslim, the Queen gave the muslims the choicest land to build their mosque, they are not all Muslims.
“In the United Kingdom everybody lives together, in other parts of the world, everybody lives together, let us live together in Nigeria do not listen to them when they tell you Peter Obi is this, Peter Obi is that, the only thing Peter Obi is, is that he does not believe in what they are doing,” Obi added.
