Through various artistic expressions, performances, and exhibitions, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of our shared heritage while embracing the uniqueness of each cultural facet represented within our midst here in Gombe State.”

The Wing Commander, also lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Governor of Gombe State, for his support, and contributions to the seamless discharge of military duties and fostering trust within host communities.
“on behalf of the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group Nigerian Air Force Gombe, [I will like]…to appreciate His Excellency the Executive Governor and the good people of Gombe State for the togetherness and other good gestures we have enjoyed, which are recipes for our collective progress and development of Gombe. This has not only made the discharge of our duties seamless, but has fostered synergy within the security agencies and developed trust with our host communities,” Mokelu added.
On his part, Governor Yahaya, who was represented by Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), thanked the Nigerian Air Force, for their the courage, competence and doggedness in combating banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other related criminality.
He said, “my government is working tirelessly to deliver on the promise of security as a dividend of democracy to the good people of Gombe State…I want to assure you, we will continue to support you in the best way we can.”
Yahaya, however, warned against human rights abuse, and advised the personnel to show restraint in the course of discharging their duties adding, “show restraint in dealing with the populace, while conducting operations. It is expected as trained officers, you must maintain comportment and act within the limits of engagement.” Avoid overdoing things as the issues of human rights abuses have the ability to undermine your security efforts, and jeopardise your campaigns of asymmetric war efforts.”
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the maiden edition of BASA at Gombe served as platform for officers, soldiers, and their families to interact, while fostering peace and unity, it featured cultural performances, tug of war competition, and the symbolic beating of the retreat followed by a campfire.
