The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress; Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Chairman of Progressives Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State; Hope Uzodinma, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, and former Senate President of the 9th National Assembly Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, have urged the electorate to vote for Hon Musa Mustapha Yobe East Senatorial Candidate in the upcoming election.
Speaking at the flagging-off of the APC senatorial campaign rally at 27 August stadium in Damaturu the state capital of Yobe, Ganduje said Yobe is a one-party state, hence the party will not agree with any opposition that will push the ruling party away.
‘‘Yobe is a one-party state, even the small number from other political parties, this evening we are converting them to our party APC. So virtually there is no other party.
‘‘The National headquarters (APC) will give you (Governor of Yobe State) every assistance, every cooperation to ensure that we win this senatorial seat,” he said.
In his remark, Uzodinma, said the party is taking time to manage the global crisis of a bad economy.
‘‘What is happening now under the leader of our party, APC is taking time to manage the crisis the global crisis of bad economy, the global crisis of insecurity everywhere.
‘‘There is war in Ukraine and Russia, there is war in Israel and Gaza insecurity everywhere so government after government is a challenge but in Nigeria, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the insecurity has been managed,’’ he said.
While speaking, the Senate President of the 9th Assembly Hon Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, said the party has been ruling the state since 1999, saying opposition parties have no space in the state.
He said Hon Musa Mustapha, the candidate of Yobe East Senatorial District was unanimously endorsed by the party stakeholders to be the party’s flag bearer in the bye-elections.
Addressing the party supporters, Buni said Yobe East people should not make the mistake of sending an opposition member to the national assembly.
‘‘The job of a senator is at the centre means in Abuja and the advantage of voting in for a party in the majority to represent a given constituency that means our people should not make the mistake of sending an opposition member to the national assembly,” he added.
