Gunmen suspected to be Jukum militia on Thursday, attacked and killed two returning Internally Displaced Persons in Ikyenum, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Wukari is the home local government of Governor Agbu Kefas, however, the killings and continued attack on Internally Displaced Persons, in the area has been on high spate in the recent time.
Our correspondent also reports that the IDPs had last week raised the alarm over threat to life by suspected Jukum militia, and appealed to governore Kefas to provide them with security to avert the situation.
The President general, Tiv Culture and Social Association Taraba state, Chief James Baka, told journalists on phone that four among the Killers first approached the IDPs and asked them to vacate their ancestral homes before they later returned few minutes in their numbers and carried out the killing.
According to the state Tiv leader, some of the survival narrated that the attackers came in their numbers and started shooting anyone on sight.
“Four of them first came and asked the returning IDPs to leave their ancestral homes. They left within five minutes and reappeared in numbers and started shooting anyone on sight.
“Two of the IDPs were killed at the spot while many of them are still receiving treatment from gunshots.
“Terungwa Aondoyima, mseerdoom haanongon, Iorlaha Tahwan, and Sesugh yanor were shoot in the attack.
“The IDPs saw the know Jukum militia among people that attacked them. They saw, Manasseh Yohana (Don’t Worry), Saidu Angyu, Sam Adimani, Sunday Maurice , Jonah Agaba, Tunji, Samson danjuma, Ibrahim bababukin and Happy siri.
“From where the IDPs were attacked is less than 200mtr. away from a military check point,” Chief Baka narrated.
Taraba State Police command through the Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the attack.
