The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Iss Andaha, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
It was gathered that Andaha who was in company of one Adamu Custom were both kidnapped by the gunmen at exactly 8:30pm on Monday night in the LGA and whisked to an unknown destination.
The Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Kassimu, made the disclosure to Journalists in Lafia.
“The Chairman, Safiyanu, was abducted at Ningo village on the Akwanga – Andaha road in the Akwanga Local Government Area of the state along with one Alhaji Adamu Custom at about 8:30 in the evening of January 1st, 2024,” he said.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the police in collaboration with other security agencies were on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure that the council chairman and the other victim are rescued unhurt.
