Katsina State Police Commissioner, Aliyu Musa, on Tuesday warned criminals and miscreants to stay away from the state or have themselves to blame.
He gave the warning in katsina at a press conference on recent activities of his command even as he disclosed that the command arested no fewer than 1,627 suspects for various offences in 2023.
He also disclosed that operatives of the command killed seventeen suspected kidnappers and rescued 171 kidnap victims in the year.
The Police Commissioner added that 855 out of the arrested suspects were being prosecuted in various courts for their alleged offences.
Musa gave the breakdown of the arrested suspects thus ” In connection with 938 reported major cases, a total of 1,627 suspects were arrested, while a total of 855 cases have been charged to court and are being prosecuted in various competent courts of law throughout the State.
“There were also over two hundred and 258 suspected Armed Robbers, 64 suspected kidnappers,
One hundred and 176 murder suspects;
Three hundred and 369 suspected rapists/sodomists.”
According to the police commissioner, the command equally succeeded in
rescuing 171 kidnapped victims, 67 human trafficking victims, neutralised 17 suspected kidnappers in the outgone year.
He disclosed that some of the recoveries made in the year included 12 AK 47 rifles; over 1,500 live rounds of ammunition;
over 700 suspected rustled animals 12 suspected stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles as well as 17 suspected stolen phones.
Musa further disclosed that
568 sachet of D5 tablets; 23 packets of Exzole tablets;
four hundred and eleven 411 packets of Rebozel tablets and
5 packs of Diezole tablet as well as quantum of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp,were recovered in the year.
The Police Commissioner declared that the command was able to achieve the feat in 2023 due to the support given by the Inspector -General of the police,Kayode Egbetokun, Governor Dikko Radda, the commitment of the officers and men of the command ,the cooperation being received from the people of the state and the media.
He added, “Despite these modest achievements, more work remains to be done, starting from this moment. It is very imperative to warn unrepentant criminals to either surrender or risk arrest.”
