….. as Professor Njodi tasks the newly turbaned Madugun Kaltungo on commitment, tolerance
The Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Mohammed, has appealed to rich individuals in his domain to be supportive of the less-privileged especially at this difficult time.


Mohammed made the call in his palace Saturday shortly after presiding over the turbanning ceremony of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Mr Modi Dodo Shelpidi, as the “Madugun Kaltungo, and Village head of Karel” in Shongom District.

The Mai said the appeal became necessary as the reality of difficulty continues to bite harder on the people maintaining that governments alone cannot cater for the food and other necessity needs of the people.
He also called on people of the Chiefdom to guard against unnecessary selling of farm produce, adding that the food and economic crisis in the country calls for wisdom in the way of resource management.
While commending Shelpidi on his well-deserved recognition and honour the Mai attributed his choice to his commitment and dedication to the development and progress of his community, Kaltungo Chiefdom, Gombe State and the country at large.
He further appreciated Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for sending powerful government delegation comprising the Secretary to Government of the State Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Majority Leader,State House of Assembly Yerima Ladan Gaule, members of the State House of Assembly, the State Head of Civil Service Ahmed Kassimu Abdullahi, Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development Inuwa Adamu Pantami, and Permanent Secretaries.
Reacting to the honour bestowed on him, the Madugun Kaltungo Shelpidi, appreciated the Mai Kaltungo for the recognition and assured his continued loyalty to the chiefdom and all that it stands to achieve.

Celebration of the event later moved to Boh the headquarters of Shongom Local Government for civic reception in honour of the turbaned Madugun Kaltungo.
In his remark, Professor Njodi who doubles as Chairman of the occasion advised the celebrant to live up to expectations of his new offices of Madugun Kaltungo and village head of Karel with more commitment and vigor for good of the people.


He also called on people of the area to support him in the herculean task of discharging his responsibilities.
The reception which showed cultural displays also featured the conferment of traditional titles on deserving sons and daughters of Karel by the newly installed Village Head, Shelpidi.
