The Ministry of Transport has entered into an agreement with Messrs MPH Rail Development Limited, a UK-based company, to carry out the Port Harcourt–Enugu–Calabar–Abuja Standard Gauge Rail Line project through a public-private partnership framework.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the British company will oversee the planning, building, initiation, management, and eventual handover of the standardized railway track connecting Port Harcourt, Enugu, Calabar, and Abuja.
According to the ministry, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) occurred subsequent to the endorsement of the Outline Business Case and the receipt of a compliance certificate from the Infrastructure, Concession, and Regulatory Commission.
The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, confirmed that the ministry is fully committed to providing all necessary support for the project’s successful execution.
