….calls on Islamic clerics to intensify peace, tolerance in sermons.
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was among hundreds of Muslim faithfuls who witnessed the commissioning of the Shehu Awak JIBWIS Juma’at Mosque Kaltungo, on Friday.




The Mosque was named in honour of the late Shehu Awak, a renowned administrator who contributed immensely to the growth and development of Kaltungo, the then Bauchi State, and the nation at large.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Yahaya expressed gratitude to the people of Kaltungo for not only thinking through the project but implementing same for the benefit of Muslim faithfuls within and outside Kaltungo.

Represented by the Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the governor called on Muslim clerics in the state to use the forthcoming month of Ramadan to emphasise the need for peaceful co-existence and tolerance among the people.
He described the excruciating social and economic hardship currently been face by Nigerians as a seemingly test of faith which can only be brought to an end through trust and prayers to the Almighty God.
The Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Sale Mohammed, had earlier in a speech thanked the people of Kaltungo and their friends alike for contributing their widow’s mite towards the realisation of the Mosque.
He said the Mosque will not only provide a benefitting place of worship for Muslim faithfuls within Kaltungo but enhance spirituality as well.
The chairman JIBWIS Gombe State branch Sheikh Salisu Mohammed, described the commissioning of the Mosque as a dream come true especially as the sect hopes to make the worship centre a place for the acquisition of Islamic knowledge and research.
He praised the contribution and sacrifice of the people of Kaltungo and its friends for their dedication and steadfastness while the construction of the Mosque lasts.
The son of Shehu Awak Saidu Awak described the commissioning of the Mosque named after his father as a great honour done to his late father, family and the entire people of Kaltungo Chiefdom.
Chief Executive Officer of Lubel construction and one of the major donors to the project Architect Yunusa Yakubu, in a goodwill message commended the judicious and transparent processes associated with the construction of the Mosque.
He said as a construction specialist, the Mosque bears all the hallmarks of a well-conceptualised design implemented saying it would stand the test of time.
