Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barrister Isaac Danladi, has sent a congratulatory message, on behalf of the state government, to the athletes, wishing them success at the multi-sport event.
“On behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, and the government of Nasarawa State, I wish to congratulate our athletes for the wonderful feats.
“This is a good development for Nasarawa State because it’s never easy to be picked from a pool of numerous athletes from across the country to represent the Nation at a high-level competition like the African Games.
“While wishing our athletes and Team Nigeria a Grade ‘A’ performance at the Games, I wish to advise our athletes to be good ambassadors of the state at the event.
“I also wish to reiterate that the Government of Governor Abdullahi Sule will continue to fund sporting activities in the State for optimal performance,” Danladi said.
The African Games is a continental multi-sport event held every four years, and it is organised by the African Union with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, ANOCA, and the Association of African Sports Confederations, AASC.
54 African countries, including Nigeria, will be participating in the quadrennial event.
The City of Rabat, Morocco, hosted the last edition in 2019.
