A one-day workshop has been organised by the United States Agency for International Development, State2State Activity for validation of a document for Standard Operating Procedure for Gombe State Ministry of Information.




The participants include Information Officers and some state media staff, who were guided by the Communication Specialist, Mr Onu Odiba, through an earlier drafted SOP document to be reviewed and finalised.
The SOP will be developed through a collaborative effort between S2S and the Gombe State Government to serve the needs of the entities involved.

Speaking earlier, Public Financial Management Specialist, Mr Tosin Oke, in his opening remarks, called the participants to expect an SOP document at the end of the event, stressing that as media people they should publicise and share the State2State reports with other outlets.
The State2State Gombe Team Lead, Muhammad Abubakar, in his address on USAID primary governance sectors of Public Financial Management, Citizen Engagement, Gender and Social Inclusion and Conflict Management, gave an overview of their activities in priority service delivery sectors, which include Primary Healthcare, Basic Education and Water Sanitation and Hygiene(WASH).
On his part, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information, represented by Malam Umar Alabura, expressed his appreciation to State2State for the training participants, expressing optimism that the SOP would improve the performance of the ministry.
Also, Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists, Sa’idu Malala, stated his sincere thanks to State2State for involving journalists in its success stories of development in the state, assuring that the media would continue to publicise USAID’s activities.
Malala also hoped the SOP document will be implemented for the benefit of public servant.
In his closing remarks, a Director in Gombe Media Corporation, Malam Muhammad Ibrahim, commended State2State for the knowledge impacted participants in the production of the document for the future usage.
