Speaking during the food giveaway & medical outreach by Nigeria Association of the blind Gombe State chapter & Kanawa educational foundation for the blind, the Joint National Association Persons Disability Gombe chapter Chairman, Dr Ishiyaku Adamu, said 500 PWDs are to benefit from the gesture.
He said, “We are here to witness the food giveaway and medical outreach for 500 persons with disabilities in Gombe State supported by Access Bank. The team of medical experts are here to carry out series of tests freely and beneficiaries are tested on various health issues which include HIV, hepatitis, typhoid, malaria, glucose level and so on. We are also giving food which include rice, beans and garri.

On how the donation will reduce hardship faced by members Adamu said, “As you know persons with disabilities are the most vulnerable in the society and you will expect that in any situation of hardship they will feel it the most, and they will feel the greatest proportion of that.”

Commenting on the donation, Adamu added, “This will go a long way to ease the situation felt by members. We thank Access Bank and we expect other private sector players to extend same support to Persons With Disabilities.”
On his part, Babangida Yahaya, Secretary of JONAPWD Gombe Local Government Area commended the donors, saying “The food will help us in this Ramadan period.”
