The management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has blamed irregular power supply on the 10 Mega Watts allocated by Transmission Company of Nigeria to its customers on Ashaka line which is being redistributed across the state.
Recall that on April 22 at about 3:32pm no fewer than than four transmission towers were vandalised had forced the state to remain for over 72 hours in blackout, before the temporary measure of connecting the state through Ashaka line.
According to a press statement signed on Saturday by the company’s Head, Corporate Communications Dr Friday Adakole, the current erratic supply was caused by its attempt at load shedding the available lines 10MW.
Adakole said, “Jos Electricity Distribution Company wishes to inform its esteemed customers in Gombe state and some parts of Bauchi state that the current load shedding being experienced is due to the 132kV Bauchi-Gombe Transmission line load limitations.
“Gombe is now receiving a power supply from Bauchi because of the vandalism of the TCN 330kV Jos-Gombe Transmission lines towers. JED Plc is allocated 10MW by Transmission Company of Nigeria for our customers in Gombe and Ashaka Cement Plant.
“The situation has forced us to embark on equitable load-shedding of electricity supply to our customers.”
While pleading for patience as engineers complete the reconstruction, he disclosed that power would be regularised, “As soon as they are through with the reconstruction of the vandalised towers and full supply is restored, we will transport the same to our esteemed customers. We, therefore, urge our customers not to despair as the load shedding is beyond our control. Kindly bear with us as we strive to serve you better. Thanks for your understanding and patience.”
