The court has rejected the request to cancel the arrest warrant for the former Yahaya Bello, stating that the former Governor is not complying with court directives.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has denied the plea made by the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to pause the legal proceedings regarding the N80.2 billion fraud allegations against him.
Bello requested that the court postpone carrying out the legal decision in his case presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite.
He cited the ongoing appeal filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Court of Appeal in response to the defendant’s contempt application against EFCC chairman, Ola Olukayode.
In his ruling on Friday, Justice Nwite dismissed the request put forth by Bello via his attorney Abdulwahab Mohammed.
