The International Organisation for Inspired Development Initiative, in partnership with United States Government Alumni, on Thursday organised a one-day seminar for peace dialogue.
The dialogue was in commemoration of International Day of living in peace in Gombe State.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the group is committed to growing coalition and alliance among like-minded people to stimulate a movement that will build and sustain a culture of peace amidst cultural and religious differences for generation to come.
The seminar took place at National Library Gombe State.
Speaking, Programme Officer, Peace Hosiah, said the movement is for peace building in the communities, and country at large, adding that “one of the major aims of the seminar was to bring together different people of different faith, and believes to discuss on some of the major problems being faced in the society and how to find a lasting solution to them.”
Hosiah disclosed that Gombe being the home of peace in the whole North-East was chosen to be the headquarters, “which very soon they will spread across the country,” she added.
The dialogue featured the young and vibrant Nigerian youths, in which they talked about how to bring peace in the community, while proffering the way forward for peace building to include inter-faith collaboration, mutual respect, enlightenment, tolerance and forgiveness.
Speaking, Oyelade Rhoda Oluwatoyin,who is a student and one of the participants, appreciated the organisers of the seminar, “for giving us the opportunity to be part of the great movement. Peace is one of the important keys in building a nation,” she added.
she also advised the people of Gombe to continue with the legacy of maintaining peace, adding “because no peace, no nation.”
