Participants of course 46, 2024 study group two of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru have rounded off their three days study tour of Gombe State with an interactive session with key government officials.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the session was to better appreciate the state government effort towards mainstreaming digital economy, youth empowerment and sustainable job creation in Ministries, Department, and Agencies for optimal development and productivity.

Findings from the course participants is expected to be aggregated and presented in the form of a report to the President in line with the theme for the study tour ‘Digital economy, youth empowerment and sustainable job creation in Nigeria issues, challenges and opportunities’.

Speaking at the interactive session, the Team Lead for the study tour, Dr Isa Umar, explained that Gombe State was chosen for the tour based on its track record in infrastructural, inclusive human and capital development as well its prevailing peaceful atmosphere.

Umar said the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS Kuru was established in 1979 as a centre for reflection, dialogue and research for leaders across the different spectrum of the Nigeria society.

He said “One of the requirement for the award of Member National Institute mni, is predicted on the participation in field trips and study tour by members of Senior Executive Course to better equip them with contemporary challenges and prospects.”

He explained that the study tour is guided by a topic given to it by the Presidency which is ‘Digital economy youth empowerment and sustainable job creation a contemporary issue bedevilling the social fabric of the country.

The Team Lead for the study tour commended the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for introducing policies that encourages digitisation of the economy, youth empowerment and sustainable job creation.

Responding, Governor Yahaya who was represented by the Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, told the visiting course participants that since assumption of office, the present administration in the state have been leveraging on technology to drive Government business.

He noted that the introduction of Biometric into the civil service has not only helped to checkmate needless absenteeism and ghost workers but promotes efficiency accountability and transparency.

The governor assured the course participants that the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya will not relent in churning out polices and programs that supports Digital economy youth empowerment and sustainable job creation.

Yahaya expressed hope that the findings of the participants will not be efforts in futility but the government will deem it to implement same for the growth and development of the country.

The participants had in the course of their study tour visited the Ministries Departments and Agencies as well as Local Government Areas in the state.

Other areas visited by the participants include Muhammadu Buhari industrial park, industrial clusters among other areas.
