The Minister of Youth Development, Jamila Ibrahim, has announced Federal Government’s programme aimed at generating an estimated two million new job opportunities for youth through entrepreneurship.
Ibrahim, has informed that the Federal Executive Council has given its approval for the creation of the Presidential initiative focusing on the Youth Entrepreneurship cluster.
As per her statement, the initial six clusters are scheduled for launch in the upcoming weeks, aiming to support 50,000 entrepreneurs. This initiative is expected to generate around 500,000 direct job opportunities along with over two million indirect engagements for the youth in Nigeria.
During the current Ministerial Sectoral Update to commemorate President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, the minister made this announcement at the Radio House in Abuja on Thursday.
She also mentioned the creation of NextGen Bank, a specialised financial institution designed to assist young entrepreneurs in key industries by offering crucial financial services. The initiative has an initial government funding of N5 billion, supplemented by contributions from the Bank of Industry and private sector allies.
