….begins payment of compensation to Tumfure house owners
The Governor of Gombe State Muhammadu Yahaya, on Thursday warned traditional rulers, officials who may flout orders on land encroachment, adding that all lands belongs to government.
Yahaya gave this warning during the compensation of affected residents of 11 Km Tumfure road project, under his flagship network 11-100.


Yahaya disclosed that the road project would cover over 11 kilometers in both the northern and southern parts of Tumfure, forming part of the larger Network 11-100 project, adding that the contractor has been paid 30 per cent from his N11 billion charge.
He underscored the importance of agencies like the Gombe State Urban Development Authority and Gombe Geographic Information System in promoting orderly urban planning and efficient land administration.
Yahaya said, 11 billion naira, already the contractor has been mobilised we have paid him 30 per cent of the money. Every land belongs to government no matter who, if you dare cross it you will face the wrath of government.
“The law has no eyes, we will close our eyes any illegal structure put on free land or road corridor will be brought down and there will be no compensation this is the last warning am giving in this regard and whoever, be it Village Head, District Head, or even Emir, whoever crosses these directives and instructions should forget his job. I will sack him, I will sack you from the lowest to the highest I will sack you, I have made the law and I’m waiting to see that its done.”
Also, Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Magaji commended the governor for his political will towards ensuring that the vast majority of communities in the state are connected with road networks.
Magaji, lauded the governor for reviewing the compensation payments by 100 per cent, assuring that his committee will ensure justice to all the affected property owners.
The Commissioner announced a two-week grace period to allow property owners who have received compensation to pack their belongings to pave the way for the commencement of work in earnest.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engr Usman Kallamu, warned property owners affected by the Tumfure road network not to encroach on the spaces left by the side of the road, adding “such will be utilised for installing street lights and laying water pipes.”
