The legal representative of the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, Abdulwahab Mohammed (SAN), assured on Friday, that his client will attend the court proceedings on June 13.
Yahaya’s presence will enable him to respond to the 19 counts of money laundering allegations brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that EFCC had alleged that the former governor misapplied N80.2 billion, while in office.
Mohammed mentioned that his client is willing to appear in court to address the charge he is facing. However, he expressed fear and apprehension about potential harm due to the sensitive information he has received.
He said, “Our client is not afraid to attend court in respect of the charge. But, he fears for his life, by the information he has. He is afraid and fears for his life. Will the complainant not arrest him when he comes to court? This is one of the issues.”
