…..lauds Gombe State Governor over fertiliser subsidy
Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Gombe State Chapter, Mr Banyula Hala, has called on farmers to return to their fields for the 2024 farming season.
Speaking to Radio Nigeria reporter in Gombe, Hala expressed gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa for subsidising the price of fertiliser, reducing it to N22,000 per bag.
He described this subsidy as a significant benefit for farmers and the people of Gombe State.
Hala emphasised the importance of timely distribution of fertiliser to ensure that farmers can utilise it effectively during the farming season. He urged the government to ensure the prompt provision of these essential inputs.
Furthermore, Hala appealed to the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, to prioritise the agricultural sector.
He highlighted the need for modern agricultural machinery to facilitate mechanized farming in Nigeria, which he believes will enhance the country’s agricultural productivity and position Nigeria as a leading agricultural nation in Africa, given its population of over 220 million people.
He called on affluent individuals to invest in agricultural activities, stressing that “such investments are crucial for national development. I want to reiterate that agriculture remains the backbone of the country’s economy and a vital pathway to sustainable development,” he added.
