Following the 2024 flood prediction by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency in which five Local Government Areas in the state are said to be susceptible to flood disaster, the State Emergency Management Agency has embarked on a sensitisation campaign to the affected LGAs.

The LGAs include Kwami, Dukku, Yalmatu-Deba Gombe and Funakaye.
The sensitisation campaign by the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA is sequel to an earlier training organised by the National Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with SEMA held on the 12th of June 2024.
To this end, the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA led by its Executive Secretary Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, had on Thursday embarked on an enlightenment tour to the flood risk Local Government Areas.
During the course of the campaign, Abdullahi met with critical stakeholders to at the various LGAs to including officials, traditional and religious leaders, members of Civil society organisation and representative of Persons With Disabilities.
Abdullahi stressed on the need for residents not to use water channel as refuse dump sites, while commending the State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for placing premium on the environment, “and giving the Agency all the necessary support to succeed,” he added
The team visited Kwami and Funakaye Local Government and will also visit Dukku, Gombe and Yamaltu Deba in its subsequent engagement.
