Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office issued a travel advisory on Friday, cautioning citizens against travelling to several parts of Nigeria, including the border with Niger Republic, due to planned nationwide protests.
The FCDO, which advises British nationals on travel risks to help them make informed decisions, published the advisory on the UK government’s website.
The alert is based on the upcoming #EndBadGovt nationwide protest set to begin in Nigeria on August 1, 2024, which is already gaining momentum.
The FCDO’s latest update, issued on July 26, states, “New information indicates that widespread public demonstrations are a possibility across Nigeria.” British citizens are advised to thoroughly research their destinations before travelling.
