….As gov commends Rabi-led committee for a job well done
The committee inaugurated by the Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya to review the Gombe State Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations has submitted its report to the State Government after an eight months into its assignment.

Presenting the report to the state governor who was represented by the Secretary to State Government Professor Ibrahim Njodi, the chairperson of the committee Hajiya Rabi Jimeta, who is also the chairperson of the Gombe state civil service commission said the review of the civil service rules is necessary because most of the ones in use are obsolete.
She said the committee study extensively public service rules, financial regulations, store regulations, procurement guidelines, local government regulation and job descriptions for local government respectively and came up with recommendations that will change the narrative.

The chairperson expressed confidence that the state will study the report and come up with a draft document that will be useful in its quest to reinvigorate and reposioning the public service in Gombe state
According to the chairperson of the committee, the last time such documents were reviewed was twenty years ago, and therefore, they have to make recommendations that will align the service with the global best practices
Hajiya Rabi Jimeta also appreciated the state government for entrusting them to undertake the assignment for the state
Responding the state governor appreciated the committee for their sacrifices and for doing and excellent job for the betterment of public servants in the state
The governor assured that the state government will implement the recommendation after a study so as to put the service in a better position of service.
He said just recently a team from some northern states were in Gombe state to borrow a leaf from what has been achieved so far as regards civil service reforms
Commenting, the head of civil service Alhaji Kasimu Ahmed Abdullahi expresses optimism that the recommendations of the committee when finally implemented, Gombe state civil service will be a pace setter among all its northern counterparts
