NANNM also lamented the lack of promotion of members, adding that most of them have remained on the same grade level.
According to the Association, Government should implement teaching allowances for all Nurse educators at College of Nursing Sciences Gombe, stressing that there should be inclusion, domestication of nursing internship programme which should be placed on grade level nine.
The letter partly read, “There is gross shortage of manpower across the state facilities. Nurses and Midwives run double and triple shifts and some at some instance are alone on a shift which is bad to be be a life saver at point of duty.
“Promotion of Nurses and Midwives with financial implication quite a number of nurses are stagnated on a grade level for many years with no promotion and the few promoted do not enjoy financial benefits. This has weakened the zealousness found in many in discharging their responsibilities .”
While warning members to desist from strike despite the overwhelming challenges which they faced, “In view of these demands and looking at the proposed national protest which is about to take place. Yet we call on all Nurses and Midwives not to join the Nationwide protest but to remain in their duty post and or remain at home and allow the cause of law and dividends of democracy available to masses,” the letter added.
