Nelson Mandela once said “Crime and violence are the biggest obstacles to development in our country.”
A violent crime is an action crime that is been done by individual which leads or result to rape, kidnapping, banditry, stealing and fraud, to an individual.
Therefore, violent crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, fraud, has become rampant in our Nigerian society today, especially in the society where people are no longer safe, because of this act of insubordination, people tend to leave in fear while some are security conscious of their lives because they do not want to fall victim of these violent acts.
Furthermore, One of the violent crimes that can be seen today in the society is rape. Rape has brought many damages to the people living in the society today, especially girls. This issue of rape has become so rampant in the society, where as most of girls, ladies and women are no longer free in carrying out daily activities.
In society, most of these girls leave in fear because of this nefarious act, they do not want to fall victim because it endangers their health and also their lives. One of the most violent crime, creeping out the world is kidnapping, kidnapping in the country have crafted a negative impact in the life of Nigerian citizens today because people tend to live in fear while traveling because they is no maximum security to safe guide them, people loss their family as a result of kidnapping in Nigeria. Kidnapping has become a bad disease in the country which needs to be cured for the betterment of the country and also the citizens of Nigerians.
Meanwhile, In Northern Nigeria, kidnapping has become very rampant because of lack of maximum security skyrocketing in the country, because of this such citizens tend to live in fear, most travelers of north are no longer traveling because of the insecurity nature in the country which can course kidnapping, murdering, raping, etc, However, they are many different ways the government can tackle violent crime such as: Prevention programs to prevent individuals from becoming violent, Societal policing to build relationships between law enforcement and the community, employment opportunities to reduce unemployment and crime, maximum security measures to ensure citizen safety.
The Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, must take decisive action to address the root causes of violent crime and ensure the safety and security of Nigerian citizens, especially in the Northern region. By addressing violent crime, the government can restore peace and security, allowing citizens to live without fear and ensuring a better future for Nigeria.
