Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has expressed support for the upcoming protest, criticising Bola Tinubu’s administration for worsening hunger and hopelessness among Nigerians.
He urged protesters to act within the law and maintain civility, emphasising that such demonstrations should reflect the nation’s commitment to legal and orderly conduct. .
This was disclosed on Sunday after a brief meeting with Alex Otti of Abia state, Obi urged Nigerians to protest without being violent and violating the law.
“Within the Nigerian constitution, protest is allowed. All I plead for is that those who are protesting are to do so within the law and in a civil manner that allows us as a nation to show that we live within the law. Everybody knows that things are difficult,” Obi said.
He further said, “When they talk about sponsors of the protest, I always say the sponsors are very simple. It’s hunger and hopelessness among the youth, so we all have to listen to what Nigerians are going through,” Obi added.
He however encouraged the security agencies to manage the situation again within the law and maintain orderliness .
