The United States Agency for International Development Agency Team Lead Dr Nura Ibrahim, has commended the Gombe State Government for its far-reaching efforts in education especially infrastructural development.

He then commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his leadership and urged him to maintain the tempo.
He then informed the management of the education ministry that the mission of the visit is to strengthen partnership in the area of ‘Learn to Read ‘ project to improve the reading culture of primary school pupils from the grassroots.
The USAID team lead also said Gombe State had earlier benefitted from the Strengthening of Education in the North East “SENSE” programme through the training of teachers and provision of instructional materials at the basic level of education.
The learn to read initiative according to Ibrahim will focus attention on the Education Management Information System EMIS in both the State Universal Education Board and the Ministry of Education with a view to improving them in the area of data collection and analysis in addition to teacher training and retraining to ensure quality service delivery in education.
Responding, the Commissioner for Education Dr Aishatu Umar Maigari, said since inception of the present administration in 2019, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya focuses attention on the provision of quality and functional education in all public schools across the state.
The Commissioner further stated that, the improved performance of final year students from 22 per cent to over 70 per cent last year was not unconnected to the education friendly initiatives of the Inuwa Yahaya led administration.
Maigari, therefore, commended USAID and State2State for their tireless efforts in the education sector of the state and said the state government will do more to improve the sector.
