Borno State Government has launched a reformed monitoring and evaluation framework to enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in development projects.

Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr. Mustapha Malumbe, announced this at a consultative meeting in Maiduguri on Monday, saying the reform will accelerate the state’s 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic actions.

“The revamped framework will facilitate seamless progress tracking, identify areas for improvement, and inform data-driven decision making, ensuring better project delivery and sustainable development,” Malumbe explained.

He described the initiative as groundbreaking, saying it will revolutionize project implementation and tracking in the state, paving the way for sustainable development.

Our correspondent reports that the reform is a collaborative effort between the Borno State Agency for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Responses, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Borno Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, and Borno State University, supported by UNICEF.

The Commissioner added, “With the new M&E framework in place, citizens can expect tangible improvements in project delivery and sustainable development.”

He added that resources will be utilized efficiently, and projects will have a lasting impact on citizens’ lives, noting that the future of Borno State looks brighter than ever.

On his part, Mubaraq Yusuf, Director of My IT Consult Limited, said the programme’s objectives include conducting a readiness assessment to strengthen Borno State’s M&E system.

He added that the consultative workshop aimed to present findings, gather stakeholder feedback, and build support for implementation.

Yusuf emphasised that a robust M&E framework is crucial for effective project delivery, enabling performance tracking, coordination between government and development partners, and impact assessment.
