The Chairman of Federal University Kashere Governing Council, Professor William Aderounmu, said in Gombe, on Tuesday, that they are in the state to appreciate the support given to the institution by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, for providing them with piece of lands enough for expansion where the institution is currently constructing it’s medical school and other offices.

Apart from holding their meeting in the state, the Chairman explained that education and entrepreneurship are keys
to development which government needs to give necessary backup for more developmental facilities.

Aderounmu also used the medium to solicit for independent source of power supply and security to the institution, while explaining that FUK Governing Council meeting which kicked off the same day, is aimed at deliberating on strategies that will foster progress of the university.

Also, the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, who received the FUK Governing Council led by the Vice- Chancellor, Professor Umaru Pate, on behalf of Governor Yahaya, reiterated that
the advancement of education in the state remains a priority of Yahaya-led administration.

He explained that on coming to office in 2019, the governor partnered with relevant organisations to revamp education from it shamble state, by placing a state of emergency on the sector and also put up strategies that led to the construction and rehabilitation of schools as well as recruitment of teachers, expressing satisfaction that the strategy is paying off in view of the drastic improvement in the performances of students in WAEC and NECO among others.

The governor noted that the importance of education in the society cannot be overemphasized but however, lamented the failure of family systems and religious bodies in ensuring sound morals, which he said is resulting to having more criminals among the educated class and therefore challenged the university champions to use their expertise to suggest possible solution to the socio -economic Challenges facing humanity.

Yahaya categorically frowned at the high rates of school fees across Federal Institutions, saying that it has made many students who are from the poor background to drop their studies for financial incapability.

He also pointed the need for treating diseases in the country than depending strictly on the orthodox prescriptions, while challenging them as researchers to use indigenous Nigerian herbs to produce medicines that can tackle ailments so as to reduce the rate of drugs importation that are beyond the purchase of an ordinary Nigerian.
