Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, on Saturday narrated how his men provided surveillance for other security agencies to have situational awareness of the crises especially in Gombe State.
Abubakar made this disclosure at the old banquet hall of Gombe Government House, during a courtesy visit to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

According to Abubakar, the wanton destruction by the #EndBadGovernanceProtest was unacceptable, stressing that a security agency of government it was imperative to protect both lives and property.
Our correspondent reports that the 10-day protest was effective on the first day, where protesters allegedly invaded the Bureau of Public Reforms, Bima Lodge and other business premises moving equipment.
While consoling the state government over the lost Abubakar said, “On a sad note, I want to commiserate with the government and good people of Gombe State for the wanton destruction of property witnessed few days ago during the protest which obviously was hijacked by very unscrupulous elements.”
Abubakar added, “but I want to mention that immediately I got the news of the crisis I directed that an aircraft be dispatched to come and overfly the environment to monitor what is happening by way of surveillance so that security agencies on the ground have situational awareness of what is going on.”
While emphasising the essence of inter agency collaboration, Abubakar added, “subsequently to continue to monitor the situation our ground troops were working in synergy with with other security sister agencies to quell the protest I’m glad say the situation has been put under control.”
On his part, Yahaya commended the security agencies especially the Nigerian Air Force for its role in ensuring national cohesion.
The governor said, “Here in Gombe your men have been supportive and we thank God that the protest didn’t generate to the extent that it will cost lives and the little that happened was controlled.”
Speaking further on the efforts of the Air Force in tackling crimes, Yahaya added, “We thank God for that and equally appreciate your efforts in protecting Nigerians against the insurgents and bandits.”
