Gombe State Police Commissioner, Hayatu Usman, alongside his management team on Tuesday decorated no fewer than eight newly promoted senior officers, urging them to eschew corruption.
Usman also harped on the need for the officers to maintain professionalism.
The promoted officers include one Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Nasiru Abdullahi Divisional Police officer in charge of Deba Police station to the new rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, and other seven Superintendents of Police to the new rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, namely; CSP Muhammad Audu attached to SID, CSP Joel Dan-Gombe attached to SCID, CSP Ali madaki DPO Amada Police station.
Others are CSP Abubakar Helma DPO kwami Police Station, CSP Ahmed Ibrahim Gombe Area Crime Officer D/Kowa, CSP Ajawo Yunusa Babatunde attached to SCID, CSP Alh. Bakari Kama DPO Tula Division, CSP Alhassan Jimo Jami’u attached to DFA.
The CP said, “I wish to urge the officers to lead by example, respect human rights, shun any form of corruption and to carry out Police duties professionally at all times as you assume the new rank with a lot of responsibilities.”
While congratulating the officers on behalf of the Inspector General Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Usman commended the chairman Police Service Commission for their merit-based promotion.
Our correspondent reports that in the wake of their recent promotion the newly promoted officers appreciated the IGP, PSC chairman for considering them worthy of promotion and reassured their commitment to their responsibilities.
