Gombe state Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Saidu Fawu, on Friday convened a high-level interactive session with committee members on the implementation status of the sanitation exercise in the state.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA recalls that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, directed the reintroduction of the age-long end of month general sanitation exercise in the state for a more cleaner and healthier living in our environment.

During the meeting, committee members deliberated extensively on the outcome of last month’s sanitation exercise with a view to curbing the challenges experienced for a smooth implementation for this month.
“Every last Saturday of the month has been approved for citizens of the state to participate in cleaning their environment, business areas, and surroundings. Thus, from 7 am to 10 am of Saturday, 28th September 2024, is earmarked for this month’s sanitation exercise,'” the committee resolved.

Vehicular movement will be restricted, and residents are advised to comply effectively as officials of the ministry and Gombe State Environmental Protection Agency will monitor compliance and sanctions will be meted out without fear or favour.
