The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Gombe State Council, has thrown its weight behind Alhassan Yahya, the current National Deputy President, in his bid for the union’s national presidency, and Dr Abimbola Oyetunde, who is vying for the National Deputy President in the forthcoming National Triennial Delegates Conference.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Council Chairman, Faruk Muazu, congratulating Alhassan Yahya on submitting his nomination form, describing his aspiration as a testament to Gombe State’s leadership and excellence.
“Alhassan’s unwavering commitment to journalism and media practitioners’ advancement in Nigeria is inspiring. We’re proud to call him our own,” Muazu said.
Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Misilli, also praised Alhassan’s outstanding career, citing his experience as Chairman of the Gombe State NUJ Council, Vice Chairman of Zone E, and Deputy National President.
“His candidacy represents the collective will of Gombe journalists, the Directorate of Press Affairs, and the state government. We firmly stand behind him due to his solid leadership credentials and commitment to advancing journalism nationwide,” Misilli said.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Yahya’s vision for a more dynamic, inclusive, and responsive NUJ is expected to resonate with journalists nationwide, paving the way for a successful bid.
The council also urged its members to unite behind Yahya’s vision, by harnessing their collective strength to propel him to victory and elevate journalists’ status across Nigeria.
