The Kalthum Foundation for Peace on Monday strongly condemned the tragic killing of Médecins Sans Frontières medical staff in Gaza, allegedly perpetrated by the Israel Defense Forces.
“The senseless killing of humanitarian workers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law,” said Ummu-Kalthum Rabiu, Chief Executive Officer of the Kalthum Foundation. “We urge all parties involved to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy over violence.”
The Foundation emphasised that attacks on medical personnel compromise civilians’ health and well-being during crises.
“The protection of humanitarian workers is paramount,” Rabiu stressed. “We call for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate humanitarian access and protect those working tirelessly to save lives.”
The Foundation also urged the international community, particularly the United States, to facilitate a ceasefire and sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“The United States has a critical role to play in brokering peace,” Rabiu noted. “We implore them to use their influence to bring an end to this senseless violence.”
The Kalthum Foundation extended condolences to MSF, acknowledging their commitment to providing high-quality medical care in Gaza.
“MSF’s bravery and resilience in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to all who value human life and accessible healthcare,” Rabiu said.
The Foundation’s urged international engagement in pursuing a just and lasting solution that honours the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.
“We stand firmly against violence and advocate for peaceful resolution,” Rabiu concluded. “Human dignity and life must be prioritised.”
