The Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, on Tuesday paid a working visit to the Lincoln University College, Kumo Campus to ascertain the level of preparedness by the varsity to begin academic activities.

The SGS’ visit is a follow up to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s initial release of funds as part of the state government commitment to put in place all the necessary requirements and infrastructures for a smooth take off.
Professor Njodi remarked that the administration of Governor Yahaya is poised at giving the University all the necessary support to begin academic activities which is expected to attract development to people of Kumo and Gombe State as a whole.
The SGS commended the management of the University for the judicious use of fund which is evident in the massive infrastructural development that adorn the institution.
He appealed to the people of the state to be patient as the present administration is doing everything within the armbit of the law to ensure that the school takes off on a sound footing.

Prof Njodi who himself a University Don and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri expressed satisfaction with the facilities on ground and the determination by the management of the varsity to make it conducive for teaching and learning.

Earlier the Pioneer Vice Chancellor Professor Adamu Abubakar, explained that the University will commence academic activities with three faculties to include Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Management with 16 academic programmes in total.

The VC expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya-led administration for partnering with Lincoln University and for releasing monies to carry out some major work at the campus.
Some of the works undertaken according to the Vice Chancellor include road networks, perimeter fencing, gully erosion control, renovation works on some structures, repairs of generator and replacement of electric cables which were hitherto vandalised.
He told his guests that NUC has already assessed the school and has fixed a date to visit the main campus of the institution in Malaysia to ascertain the authenticity of the institution before final approval by both the Federal Executive Council through the Federal Ministry of Education.
Abubakar who described the SGS as his teacher and mentor also acknowledged the SGS’ guidance assuring him that he will not relent in putting in his best to bequeath a world class institution.
