The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jalingo Branch, Dr. Daniel Philemon Saredau, on Friday said his administration would transform legal practice through digitalisation and collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery for the people.
Dr. Saredau made the pledge during the swearing-in ceremony of the branch’s newly elected officials in Jalingo, stating that his administration was determined to make the Bar work better for all.
According to him, leadership is about determination, and the new executive committee has resolved to build on the foundation laid by previous leaders to improve legal practice in the state.
“Our desire is to transform legal practice in Taraba. The reform is to ensure a Bar That Works for All,” Dr. Saredau pledged.
The new NBA chairman appealed for members’ support to enable him to deliver on his mandate.
“It is time to deliver on the mandate entrusted to us. We have made commitments, and now it is time for service.
“Our administration’s commitments cut across 12 impact areas designed to ensure a thriving, digitally enabled, and inclusive Jalingo Bar. These include digitalisation through a branch website, a digital members’ portal, and a strong online presence.
“The areas also cover members’ welfare and remuneration, social activities, sports and recreation, inclusivity and young lawyers, continuing legal education, human rights, public interest advocacy, law reform, transparency and accountability, and enhancement of the Bar Centre.
“We also aim to establish a Bar Guest House, strengthen Bar-Bench relations, foster cordial relations between the Bar and security agencies, and promote ethical, sustainable, and technology-oriented legal practice.
“We will remain committed to pragmatic, visible, responsive, visionary, and accountable leadership,” Dr. Saredau assured.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Taraba State Government, Chief Barr. G. T. Kataps, urged the new executive committee to sustain unity among members to protect the association’s reputation.
Earlier, the immediate past chairman of the association, Barr. Martins Milkman, commended members for their support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same cooperation to the new leadership to ensure its success.
