A tragic incident occurred in Bagadaza Quarters, Gombe State, where 31-year-old Jonathan James, allegedly stabbed his 65-year-old aunt, Ramatu Musa, to death with a sharp knife.
“We received a distress call at 2:15 a.m. and immediately responded to the scene,” said ASP Girema Yahaya, leader of the patrol team from Pantami Division. “Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Specialist Hospital in Gombe.”
According to ASP Buhari Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the Gombe State Police Command, “The suspect, Jonathan James, was arrested at the scene, and the knife used in the crime was recovered as evidence.”
The Police Public Relations Officer noted that late Musa sustained serious chest injuries from the stabbing, which occurred at 1:35 a.m. on October 21, 2024, which led to her demise.
“The police are taking this case very seriously, and the suspect will soon face charges in court for prosecution,” ASP Abdullahi added.
While disclosing that the motive behind the fatal stabbing is still unclear, the Gombe State Police Command assured the public that justice will be served,”We condemn this heinous act and will ensure that the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law,” said ASP Abdullahi.
