Reals Pharmaceutical Limited has donated a ready to drink Oral Rehydration Solutions to Adamawa State Government for the support of those affected by cholera in state.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the state government confirmed the outbreak of cholera in four out of 21 Local Government Areas in the state on October 22 and about 18 death was recorded and over 652 were treated and discharge.
Speaking while presenting the donation in Yola on Tuesday, the Group Managing Director of the company, Israel Adepopoola, said the aim of the donations is to contribution in the fight against water born disease especially cholera.
The Director who was represented by Mr Henry Onyinye, North-East Regional Manager disclosed that no fewer than 600 packs of the ORS were donated.
According to him, the oral dehydration therapy name “Electrorush” is the first ready to drink ORS in Nigeria and was recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
He added that some of its benefits include help treating diarrhea, help quick muscle recovery and it is for all age groups.
“Electrorush is specifically formulated to provide immediate hydration and assist in recovery during diarrhea episodes, making it an essential resource in this challenging time”, he said.
He further sympathize with government, those affected and pray for their quick recovery.
Commissioner for Health; Dr Felix Tangwami, who received the donation on behalf of the state government appreciated for the donation and commended the company for introducing ready to use ORS.
Tangwami, who was represented by his Permanent Secretary Pharm. Zirra Bubanani, said the donation come at the right time when the state is dealing with the cases of cholera outbreak.
He said, the ORS can be easily use directly instead of using water to formulate before giving to a patients .
He assured that the packs would be properly dispose to avoid the spread of the cholera.
