The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, has congratulated the NUJ on the outcome of their eighth triennial delegates’ conference which saw the election of Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi as President.
The chapel made this disclosure in a press statement signed by Hajara Leman, Chairperson; Peter Uwumarogie, Secretary, which was obtained by our correspondent.
The group disclosed that his emergence would birth unity, professionalism, inclusiveness and transparency within the NUJ family.
“Knowing the antecedent of Alhassan, we are very much confident that the victory would trigger improvement in the welfare of journalists in the country as he is renowned for mobilising all necessary resource and connection towards ensuring that his vision for colleagues were actualised,” the statement read.
Continuing the chapel maintained that Alhassan’s election is a symbol of the trust that journalists across the country have in him and his leadership ability to deliver.
The statement partly added, “While we congratulate the new NUJ President, we also thank all the delegates that gave him this mantle to lead the NUJ family; no doubt, they will have good returns on their electoral investment in Comrade Alhassan.
“This is a new era that will herald greatness in all spheres for journalists.
“On behalf of the Gombe Correspondents’ Chapel, we herewith congratulate Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi on this overwhelming victory and wish him a successful journey in the leadership of the NUJ family.”
