Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has charged students to learn how to be job creators instead of waiting for white collar jobs.
The governor gave the advice while speaking as special guest of honour during matriculation of 450 students of North-Eastern University, Gombe.

Represented by the Secretary Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, the governor congratulated the students and lecturers for the successful conduct of the matriculation, calling on students to pay attention on their studies to be good leaders of tomorrow.

He said his administration will continue to prioritise education, to
produce job creators in the state and the country in general.
The Governor called on the management of the university to maintain the good legacy of the university.

Also speaking, Founder and Pro Chancellor North East University Gombe Dr Sani Jauro, in an address appreciated the state government for its endless support to the education sector in the state.
While congratulating matriculated students, Jauro urged them to justify the efforts of the parents.
He appreciated the state Governor Yahaya for supporting the university, “the state government has given us all the necessary support whenever the need arises,” he added.
On the activities of the school the Pro Chancellor congratulated the matriculating students for getting admission into the institution
He charged them to be prudent attentive and be of good behaviour as the school will not condone any indiscipline.
Jauro promised to ensure a quality and effective service delivery to both students and the staff for the betterment of the university.
On his part, Vice Chancellor of NEU, Professor Yusuph Yahaya, thanked parents for putting their confidence in them by sending their children to the institution, assuring of effective service delivery.
He said among the matriculated students were indigenes of Cameroon and Ghana and the institution have students across the 36 states of the country.
He said, “The university is creating enabling environment with modern equipment for the excellent performance of students.”
The Vice Chancellor noted that the university is to produce students of all disciplines for job creation not job seekers.
Professor Yusuf added that the university will pay attention on Community development through the Centre of African medicine which will conduct laboratory tests on many types of traditional herbal trees for the benefit of the populace.
According to the Vice Chancellor the university has four faculties to include Faculty of Allied Health science, faculty of Communication, management and social sciences, faculty of Science and Computing and the Faculty of Law
In their goodwill messages the Commissioner Ministry of Higher Education Alh Muhammad Shettima, Alh Sani Abdullahi, Alh Yaya Hammari and the Registrar Gombe State University Dr Aliyu Bafeto, described the event as historic which according to them makes Gombe State with the highest number of private universities in the North-East sub region.
The Registrar of the University, Dr Rukayya said last year the university awarded one 100 students, while 256 students were awarded due to their outstanding performance.
